Canberra Royal Show 2010: We are delighted to announce that at this year's Canberra Royal, Birrong Thunderbolt was awarded Supreme Champion in the Suri Fleece section. We hope to have Thunderbolt certified and working as a stud male later this year.

Practical Alpaca Handling and Husbandry: This on-farm day is focused on acquiring all the practical skills of alpaca management, such as handling, halter training, giving injections, cutting toenails, mating/birthing . Aimed at the less experienced or potential alpaca owner. Dates for 2010: Saturday 10 April; Sunday 1 August; Sunday 14 November. Course fee: $80/person or $125/couple including refreshments, lunch and course notes. Contact us for further information.

Alpacas - Management, Care and Handling: We are delighted to be the host for this practical one-day introduction to farming alpacas, organised by Industry & Investment NSW (formerly the Department of Primary Industries). Includes topics such as farm layout, pasture/feeding, alpaca types and an introduction to handling/husbandry. Ideal for those considering purchasing their first alpacas. Course fee: $245/person including refreshments, lunch and course notes. Dates for 2010: Saturday 20 March; Saturday 3 July; Saturday 23 October. Contact us for further information.

Suri Farm Tours: We are now offering regular farm tours for anyone interested in visiting a suri farm and learning all about suris. For further information look at our Farm Tours page. Places on each tour are limited and must be booked in advance through Tourism Southern Highlands on 1300 657 559 or online at this website.

Suri Yarn and Products: Birrong Suri is now selling a range of exquisite hand-dyed suri yarn, together with nuno-felted garments and hand knitted suri scarves. Contact us for further information on these unique products made in Victoria, using our suri fibre, by Judy Craig of Becreatif.
