Birrong Suri Alpacas has joined with four neighbouring studs (Elysion Alpacas, Pacofino, Alpacapeņa and Earthwise Alpacas) to form the Southern Highlands Alpaca Alliance (SHAA). As a group of like-minded breeders, but with different types and genetics within our herds, we are delighted to be working together to organise events and allow prospective buyers to view a huge range of animals within one area.
On 19 April 2008 we will be holding our second Alpaca Basics day for those interested in owning alpacas or who have already purchased their first few animals. This will be followed, on 20 April by our first Alpaca Plus day, designed for those who already have some experience but are keen to advance their alpaca knowledge on topics such as showing, dealing with medical and birthing emergencies and selecting top quality stock. Contact us for further information.
On Sunday 27 April 2008 SHAA members will be participating in the fourth annual Elysion & Friends auction offering a wide selection of suri and huacaya. All AAA members will receive a copy of the full colour catalogue very soon!
September 2007 saw the launch of the Australian Suri Alliance, founded by Birrong, Elysion, Pacofino and Surilana, which aims to raise the public profile of the magnificent suri. Visit our website at www.suris.com.au.
We are delighted to annouce that in October 2007 we were able to purchase a half share in a very special male - Surilana Quo Vadis ET. Quo Vadis' sire, was imported from the Allianza herd but lived long enough to sire only four progeny in Australia, of whom Quo Vadis is the only male. His dam is a full Accoyo female who has produced both the 2006 and 2007 National Supreme Champions. He is a truly unique animal who will begin work this year.
